It’s been a great start to the tour so far! Firecloud played an amazing 12:30am-2:30am set at the Flurry Festival in Saratoga Springs NY this past Friday, or was it Saturday? You can listen to our demo at firecloudmusic.com !!
as my drive out west begins I’m going to be posting some edits that haven’t made it onto the blog yet, so here are the silliest things I did on skis last year:
November 7th, 2012 lawn and sidewalk skiing!
backcountry skiing in Jackson Hole, WY!
with Nick Economou
music: Michael Cleveland – Bright and Early
On the second day of skiing with my great buddy Nick, we hit the Jackson backcountry. Guided by some trusty locals, we hiked and traversed and traversed. Then we skied down, one by one, and at the end of the run, traversed and traversed and traversed. The whole loop took about 3 hours but it was worth all the hiking and traversing and traversing.
The music is a collaboration between Blue Moose and the Unbuttoned Zippers, in which I play fiddle, and Fribo – we created a superband together and played this live in Scotland at the Celtic Connections Festival in Jan 2012. I wrote the first tune – Lone Pine – about hiking to ski powder. Ewan, Fribo’s guitarist, wrote the second tune, The Icy North Gutter Experiment.
